Letter from the FA World Service Board

Dear FA Fellows,

The World Service Board (WSB) is pleased to announce that the 2027 World Service Business Convention will be held as a hybrid event, with opportunities to participate both in person and online.

This means eligible voting members from across our worldwide fellowship will have a voice and a vote, whether or not they can travel to the convention.

Creating a hybrid convention requires a meaningful investment of financial resources, paid and volunteer time, technology, and coordination. After careful consideration of how to offer this experience responsibly and sustainably, we are confident we can move forward in 2027 with an approach that supports broader participation while honoring our commitment to prudent stewardship.

While FA has previously offered a hybrid business convention, the model we used depended heavily on outside vendors and carried significant cost. The 2027 convention will be planned differently, with greater reliance on staff and volunteer service and more limited use of outside vendors. As with any evolving effort, there will be aspects that we refine along the way. We ask for your patience, flexibility, and grace as we undertake this next step together.

This decision applies to the 2027 convention. Afterward, we will evaluate our experience and determine the most appropriate format for future business conventions.

Planning is underway, and the convention will be held June 4-6, 2027, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Danvers, Massachusetts for those attending in person. Additional updates will be shared on the business convention page of the FA website as we prepare for registration to open in January.
